Welcome to Green Paxis

Green Praxis provides resources for ecological socialism (ecosocialism). By ecosocialism we mean the praxis of overcoming the planetary crisis that threatens life on earth. Because the crisis is entirely anthropogenic (caused by our species), its solution requires nothing less than the most radical social transformation of Our Way of Life.

While, to be sure, the world capitalist economy with its non-ceasing drive for capital accumulation is the most immediate cause of the current crisis, it is by no means its source. Let us not forget the experience of former Soviet Bloc. While Our Way of Life in shaped in many ways by the requirement of the capitalist mode of production, it origins go back to the Agricultural Revolution and the rise of class societies over 10,000 years ago. Agricultural Revolution was made possible when some gatherer-hunter groups decided to dominate nature instead of living as a harmonious part of it. Thus, class societes are rooted in alienation of our species from nature and alienation of humans from themselves. What we call civilization is built on the basis of this systematic exploitation of nature, including enslavement of other animals and oppression of other human beings.

The solution requires replacing the world capitalist system with an ecological socialist society where humanity’s alienation from nature, hence from itself, is overcome with reconciliation and harmony. Human enmacipation, often identified with women liberation, will depend on non-human animal liberation and reintigration of our new way of life as part of nature.

The praxis of ecosocialism begins with the innate resistance of humanity to alienation and often not-fully conscious desire for self-realization that point to reconnection with fellow human beings and the rest of nature. However, unlike all preceding epochal change in human society, realization of ecosocialism requires individual and collective consciousness of our place in the world and conscious action to come home to it through overcoming all duality in our species life on Earth.

Green Praxis offers resources to facilitate this journey of minds and of individual and collective action that will take place along many different paths.
